Nigeria population figures not accurate-UNFPA

The United Nations Population Fund's (UNFPA) Assistant Representative in Nigeria, Osaretin Adonri, has said the Nigerian population figures are speculative, projected and not accurate. The country is long overdue for a census, which would dismiss the catalogue of speculative population figures.  The 2006 population census conducted puts Nigeria’s population at 140,003,542 while the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) 2012 data estimated Nigeria’s population to be 166.2 million. “Nigeria needs a census for population accuracy and effective planning,” Adonri said.  According to the UNFPA 2019 State of the World Population report, Nigeria’s population has increased to 201 million, having grown at average rate of 2.6 per cent from 2010 to 2019. AFDB Approves US$70 million Loan for Ebonyi State Road Project








- The African Development Bank Group, AFDB, has approved a 70 million dollar loan for Ebonyi state road project.
-The bank said on Friday that it approved US$70 million loan for a road project in Nigeria's southeastern Ebonyi State.
- The loan was approved on Wednessday 24 April 2019 and would cover the rehabilitation and asphalting of a 51 km stretch between Nwezenvi and N'Doko and Ezzamgbo. The road will improve road safety and accessibility of farming communities helping Ebonyi state to develop special Agro-industrial zones for the processing of subsistence crops. The road will also serve as an international link between Ebonyi state and Cameroun and is expected to complete in five years.
-The bank will provide US$40 million and co-finacier, the Africa Growing Together Fund (AGTF) will contribute US$30 million.
